We had another super hot week. It rained almost every night but it didn't rain at all during the day. So it made everything hotter and more humid! Thankfully we do get a decent wind that helps a little.
I have been serving in this area for half my mission now. Transfers are next week and I will have finished training Elder Reyes so odds are that I will be transferred. I don't know how I feel about it. I have loved this area. The members are amazing and I have made some great friends.
On Wednesday, we went on divisions. I went to a different area with a different companion. I was with Elder Uribe. We had a lot of fun together! In his area, a lightning bolt struck a store. The store exploded and set fire to the homes nearby. Nine homes were destroyed. Thankfully no one was hurt!
I had a good week! Nothing too much to write about!
Love, Elder Gurney

Un Dia En La Mision
These past two weeks have been a blast! Last week was amazing because it rained quite often and it was cloudy so we didn't suffer too much from the heat. However, this week was as hot as always... but at least we had a short break!

The highlight of these past two weeks was Saturday! It started off with a stake primary activity called, "un dia en la mision" where all the stake primary kids went with us to knock doors for an hour. It was super fun! We got there and were divided into companionships and districts then we listened to a message from the stake president and then went off to a different room with our district for a training, given by us missionaries. We then left for an hour to knock doors and I have to say these kids had 0 fear, I just followed them and presented us and they did the rest! It was super cool to see the little kids share their testimonies with the people on the street. Fortunately only a couple rejected us and the rest were super nice and open to hear the little kids. After we got back, there was a testimony meeting and then food!! Tacos to be specific, all in all a good time!

We followed up the activity with the baptism of three girls who all went to the activity! Two from our ward, Tecnologico, and one from the Reserva ward. It was a great way to finish off un dia en la mision! The girls were super cute, and the dad of the two girls baptized was really happy. He served a mission and is always telling us stories from his mission, how he was assistant to the president and whatnot haha. He is super cool and has had a lot of trials so it was cool to see him so happy.

Not much else happened these past two weeks, besides me running into an air conditioning unit that was jutting out of a house into the middle of the sidewalk... which resulted in a nice goose egg and a headache for a few days haha. Thats about all! Hope you all have a great week this week!!

Zone Conference, Miracles, and Cempoala!
This week was way fun. On Thursday, we had a mini zone conference where we talked about the fire of the Spirit, how it just fills you up and all you want to do is share the gospel. We talked about what we can do to always have that fire burning, it helped me a lot and the rest of the week we focused on having that fire and paying attention to when we don't have it. This helped us really see some miracles. We also had interviews with our mission president which also helped. President Palmer is an amazing man who cares a lot about us.
Another great learning experience was going on divisions with our zone leaders. I went with Elder Weaver (from Colorado) and we had a good day! Almost every appointment we had in the morning fell through.... luckily it was cloudy that day so we had some nice weather to go knock doors... It also helped us appreciate the afternoon when none of the appointments fell through. All in all it was a good day.
The real highlight of the week was yesterday! We went to church and the first thing the Bishop said to us was that there was a brother in the church who was inactive for a long time but is coming back to church, and he wants his daughters to be baptized! And then the bishop went on his way without even giving us time to ask any questions... Regardless it got us pretty excited and yesterday we went to visit them and sure enough they're super excited to get baptized! They're 10 and 8 years old and are super fun, their mom also isn't a member who wants to get baptized but she has some things she needs to work out so were going to have to wait out that process. Regardless we are super excited, mostly because they've already been to church many times, I already knew them but I had no idea they were not members! So we are going to work with them to be baptized the eighteenth of August!
But yeah, we went to see some pyramids today which was way fun! It was a place called Cempoala! We went with Elder Holanda (from Brazil) and Elder Uribe (from san diego, cali)
